Our Viewing Points

Experience air traffic at Frankfurt Airport up close. Whether you are a plane spotter, visitor or passenger, there are several Viewing Points around the airport from which you can experience the airport. The Viewing Points are located at Take-off Site West, Landing Site North-West and the Berlin Airlift Monument. You also have a first-class view of the airport from our Visitors' Terrace or our Visitors' Center and on our Airport Tours.

Take-off Site West

From our Viewing Platform on the western runway (external link), also known as "18 West", you can keep a close eye on air traffic. You also have an overview of the southern runway. Please note that runway West is not used for take-offs in case of strong northerly winds.

Parking (external link) is available about 100 metres away on Airportring / Okrifteler Straße.

Landing Site North-West

Regardless of wind and landing directions from our Viewing Platform Landing Site North-West (external link), you can get an amazing view on the landing aircrafts as well as over the site. And since the platform is facing North, your pictures will be great, because of the excellent light.

Parking lots (external link) are about 100 metres away from the Viewing Platform.

Berlin Airlift Monument

This Viewing Point (external link) is located in the South of the airport in the immediate vicinity of the Berlin Airlift Monument (external link). The perfect place for all aviation enthusiasts. Depending on the West wind, you can spot aircrafts in various sizes from there.

Parking lots (external link) for the Berlin Airlift Monument and the Viewing Points are above the highway bridge.

Visitors' Center & other attractions

You can watch the loading and unloading of aircrafts at Gates B and C from our large panoramic window in the Visitors' Center. Monitors in the Visitors' Center provide you with the relevant technical aircraft data in real time. You also have a first-class view on the apron from our Visitors' Terrace in Terminal 2. The same applies to our Airport Tours.
