Lufthansa Group airlines at Frankfurt Airport include

  • Brussels Airlines
  • Discover Airlines

Please note that the lost property office is not responsible for checked and lost baggage. In this case, please kindly contact the responsible baggage tracing office of your  airline.

FAQs

If you have lost something on the grounds of Frankfurt Airport or on board a Lufthansa Group flight (Air Dolomiti, Austrian, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines, Lufthansa, Lufthansa CityLine and SWISS) to Frankfurt, please complete the following form: Lost item enquiry. Please also complete the form if   dangerous goods (DGRs) with a value of more than €50 have been removed from your checked baggage due to security regulations, which are stored in the lost property office and you have been notified of this.

Please note that the creation of a lost item enquiry is absolutely necessary due to the large number of found items. Your enquiry will then be compared with the items found. It is therefore important that you describe your lost items completely and as precisely as possible. If your enquiry can be matched to a lost property, you will be contacted immediately.

Note: Due to the size of Frankfurt Airport and the co-operation with various interfaces, it may take a few days before lost property is transferred to the Lost Property Office. We therefore ask for your patience.

By providing the most precise information possible in the lost item enquiry, such as device-specific identification numbers, colour details, condition, material or brand, you can help in the search for the lost item. Receipts, vouchers or duplicate keys are also useful for identification.

For lost baggage, please contact the baggage tracing department of your airline. This also applies to Lufthansa Group flights.

Report the loss of your debit or credit card to your bank immediately. In Germany, you can call the central blocking emergency number 116 116.

Once a lost item enquiry has been created and the enquiry has been successfully assigned to a lost property, you will be contacted by the lost property office. Please note that this process may take a few days.

After the lost property office has contacted you, you can recover your item after paying the fees as follows:

  • In person: You collect the item in person by presenting your identity card.
  • Dispatch: If it is not possible for you to collect the lost property in person, we can dispatch it to you at your expense.
  • Collection by proxy: You can also authorise a third person to collect your lost property. To do this, the person collecting the item must also bring a power of attorney and a valid photo ID. Please inform the lost property office of the authorised representative(s) in advance, stating their name and date of birth.

Please note that when a lost property is returned to its rightful owner, we are obliged to inform the finder of the owner's name and address so that the finder can assert his or her claim for a finder's fee against the owner.

Once you have been contacted by the lost property office and collection is possible, you can either collect your lost items from us at the lost property office (Terminal 1, Hall A, Level 0) during the above-mentioned opening hours in person or have them collected by an authorised representative (see FAQ ‘How do I get my personal belongings back?’). We also offer to send the lost property to you by parcel post at your expense.

The found items are kept for 3 months and then auctioned or disposed of.

This does not apply to perishable goods such as food, which are disposed of immediately.

If you have found something on a flight, please inform the cabin crew of the lost property or hand it over directly to the crew. If you find something on the airport premises, please hand it over to the responsible service personnel.

Alternatively, you can hand in the lost property at the following locations:

  • Lost property office in Terminal 1, Hall A, Level 0 during the above opening hours. Outside opening hours, please go to the baggage storage in Terminal 1, Hall B, Level 2.
  • Baggage storage in Terminal 2, Hall D, Level 2 from 09:00 to 17:00

Please note that employees at the airport and companies based at the airport are not entitled to a finder's fee.

The lost and found office is operated by FraAlliance GmbH, which is responsible for processing your personal data. For more information, please refer to the privacy policy.
